This is Katarina church on Södermalm in Stockholm, here there is a memorial stone for the Swedish leader Sten Sture the Younger, who died on the Mälaren's ice, early 1520 after a military battle against Danish troops outside Ulricehamn.
But that is not why there is a memorial stone here. Instead, it is because this is the place where the victims of the Stockholm bloodbath massacre in November 1520 were taken. And it was here that the Danes dug up Sten Sture's remains to desecrate them.
The Stockholm bloodbath massacre is the worst chapter in Stockholm's history.
